The Middelplaten are centrally located in Lake Veere and offer spectacular views in all directions. Here you can stop your sloop at one of the natural moorings and enjoy the surroundings. *Please note the shallow water here! The banks are important for water birds: you may be lucky enough to spot terns or spoonbills here. It is a place where nature is allowed to take its course.

Sand Creek plate
This sandbank is somewhat sheltered in the Veerse Meer and is a favourite spot among peace-seekers. The name says it all: sand, creeks and an open view over the water. The Zandkreek, which separated Noord-Beveland from Zuid-Beveland, used to run here until the Zandkreek Dam changed the landscape forever in 1960. Today, it is a lovely mooring spot during your canal cruise, overlooking the still water.

Bastiaan de langeplaat Veerse Meer rondvaart
Bastiaan de Langeplaat
Bastiaan de Langeplaat is one of the larger islands in the lake, with several jetties where you can easily moor your sloop. You sail there between reed beds and bird areas: a beautiful route in itself. Named after a former land surveyor, the island is known for its pristine nature. An ideal place for a short walk or a relaxing break during your cruise on Lake Veere.

Mooring at Oranjeplaat during your Veerse Meer canal cruise is an excellent idea. This island is close to Arnemuiden marina and has several mooring spots. Strawberry Island
One of the nicest hidden spots during your cruise on Lake Veere is Strawberry Island. You can moor here at the small jetty and picnic on the grass among the greenery. The island owes its name to the wild strawberry plants that once grew there. Today, it is a quiet, green spot. Perfect for those who want to escape the crowds completely.

Herring eater
The name alone makes this place special. According to the stories, Haringvreter owes its name to the many seals that used to eat herring on the sandbanks here. Now it is a popular little island in the Veerse Meer, with spacious mooring spots, footpaths and open lawns. Ideal for lunch ashore during your Veerse Meer canal cruise. Watch out for the Scottish Highlanders: they just graze freely here!
6
Veere
A canal cruise Veere is not complete until you visit the historic town itself. From the water, you soon see the imposing Grote Kerk and the stately facades of old warehouses. You moor at the jetty and walk straight into the centre, where you get the feeling that time has stood still here. In the 16th century, Veere was an important trading town for Scottish wool, and today you can taste that rich history in every paving stone. An ice cream on the quay, overlooking your own sloop, completes the experience.
7
Mussel Plate
Small but mighty, Mosselplaat is a quiet stopover during your tour of the lake. You moor here at a simple jetty and can stretch your legs for a while. The name refers to Lake Veere's mussel-rich past, when seafood was still harvested here in abundance. Today, it is mainly a nice, quiet place with beautiful views over the water.

Kamperland

Nice to know: Kamperland is named after the drowned village 'Campen', which went down in a flood in the 16th century. Today it is a modern water sports spot with a friendly atmosphere

In spring, you can often hear the call of the black-tailed godwit here!
